Copetown Woods Introduces the Public Players Society

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Good morning; Alex, Copetown Woods here…

Okay, okay, I am not Barry Forth, General Manager of Copetown Woods introducing an Instagram Reel on the now-iconic club’s social media channels, but I think we can all appreciate the branding of his catchphrase.

Announced on January 26, 2024, Copetown Woods is introducing the Public Players Society, a place where anyone can belong with the goal of further cementing their stance on being a true public golf club. The Society aims to bring together their most engaged followers, creating a sense of purpose and belonging beyond playing golf. By allowing like-minded individuals a place to engage with each other, participate in events and social gatherings, the goal is to continue to provide a welcoming atmosphere at Copetown Woods while developing a strong sense of community for those frequent visitors. Oh, and there will be some exclusive merch, among other benefits.

We are a public golf course but have a significant amount of very, very engaged followers and people that love to be here. We wanted to create a society of individuals with similar interests to be a part of something a little more than just playing golf here.

My Thoughts

This is not a change to becoming a private or semi-private golf club. Tee Times aren’t reserved for members* and everyone pays the same posted rates. But instead it allows Copetown’s most passionate golfers a chance to mix and mingle, and participate in collective activities. Essentially, the society is creating a community inside the community of the most passionate, dedicated golfers around the course and community, and anytime you can gather like-minded people to celebrate their shared interests, it is a win.

Copetown is among my favourite courses to play because it is architecturally intriguing, the conditioning is always good, the price is right, the food is amazing, and the way they treat their patrons is classy. This endeavour takes things a step further, allowing those most passionate about golf to get to know one another; a chance to make new friends, participate in fun events, and create a sense of belonging. It’s a membership of sorts without any restrictions. The extremely affordable pricing makes this attractive and doable for almost any golfer.

What are your thoughts on the concept? Feel free to drop a comment below. As for me, I love it… Barry, save me a spot!

    1. Hi Richard, Currently this is limited to Copetown Woods Golf Club only. I can’t say what other plans Barry might have to expand this in the future. Best to get in touch with him directly if you are interested in learning more

    1. Green Fees x 2: $120
      Dozen TP5s: $70
      Puma Hat: $35

Even with just those three things you’re over $200. At $350 it seems like a fair price and it’s hard to put a price tag on community if you really value it.
